Class Experience Want to learn real sleight of hand and perform like a pro? In this ongoing class, high school students will dive into the secrets of card magic, coin tricks, and misdirection—techniques used by professional magicians worldwide. This class focuses on skill development, performance psychology, and mastering the art of deception in a way that is both fun and intellectually challenging. What Will Be Taught? Each session covers new sleight of hand techniques and performance strategies, including: - Card Magic – Controls, false cuts, forces, and flourishes - Coin Magic – Vanishes, appearances, and sleight of hand routines - Everyday Object Magic – Rubber bands, paper clips, and impromptu tricks - Misdirection & Psychological Techniques – How to control audience attention - Stage Presence & Performance Skills – Confidence, scripting, and presentation This is not just a “learn a trick, move on” class—students will develop a real foundation in sleight of hand and performance, preparing them to amaze audiences and even explore magic as a serious skill or career path. Class Structure & Teaching Style Each class starts with a live demonstration of the technique or trick being taught. Students receive step-by-step breakdowns and personalized feedback as they practice. Discussion of the psychology behind deception and misdirection to elevate performance. Open Q&A and opportunities for students to perform in a low-pressure, supportive environment. No gimmicks, no special props—just skill-building and real magic. How Will Learners Interact? - Live instruction & technique breakdowns - Guided hands-on practice - Optional performance opportunities for feedback - Discussions on performance psychology and misdirection Materials Needed: A deck of playing cards (standard poker-size deck) A few small objects for magic (coins, rubber bands, etc.) A notebook for practice notes and routine development Who Is This Class For? - Beginners and intermediate magicians looking to refine their skills - Performers, actors, and public speakers interested in confidence and stage presence - Puzzle solvers and critical thinkers who love learning skills with depth and challenge No prior magic experience is required—just curiosity, patience, and a willingness to practice. Other Details
Learning Needs
This interactive class supports ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD learners with step-by-step demos, clear instructions, and repetition. My flexible, patient approach helps students build confidence and learn at their own pace.
Parental Guidance
This class involves sleight of hand techniques that require fine motor skills and dexterity, which may take practice to master. Learners will use small objects like coins, rubber bands, and playing cards, so parental supervision may be needed for younger students to prevent accidental swallowing or misuse.
Magic relies on misdirection and deception, but all material taught is ethical and designed for entertainment purposes only. There is no exposure to gambling-related tricks or content.
No third-party tools or external accounts are required for this class.
Pre-Requisites
No prior experience is needed! This class is perfect for beginners and aspiring magicians of all skill levels. Learners should be ready to follow step-by-step instructions, practice patience, and have fun while building their magic skills.
Supply List
Learner Supply List: - A deck of playing cards (standard poker-size deck) - A few small objects for magic tricks, such as: - Coins (quarters or half dollars work best) - Rubber bands - A small notepad or slips of paper All tricks will use common household items, so no special props or gimmicks are required. Any additional suggested materials will be mentioned in class, but students can participate with just a deck of cards and a few everyday objects.
Language of Instruction
English (Level: A2)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
No external sources are required for this class. The curriculum is based on my 20+ years of professional experience as a magician, mentalist, and balloon artist. All techniques and tricks taught in class are drawn from industry-standard sleight of hand principles and classic magic fundamentals.
