During this 4-day summer camp, students will learn to draft and sew simple skirts. They will learn: Day 1= How to take basic body measurements for sewing and use these measurements to create a simple pattern. Day 2 = Cut out each skirt from desired fabric choice. Day 3 = Sew an elastic waist maxi skirt. Day 4 = Sew an elastic waist ruffle skirt. Students MUST know sewing machine basics. How to thread a machine, wind bobbins, sew in a straight line, and backstitch. MACHINE BASICS WILL NOT BE TAUGHT DURING CLASS.

Supplies can be purchased at Walmart, Joanns, Thrift Stores, or any local sewing & craft store in your area. Pattern Making: A roll of dollar store wrapping paper or kraft paper for drafting our patterns A pen, pencil, or marker for drafting on paper Fabric Needed: Skirt #1 = 1 yard of woven (non-stretch) fabric Skirt #2 = 1 yard of woven (non-stretch) fabric Tools & Notions Needed: Sewing Machine Thread An iron & ironing board 1 tape measure 1 yard of 1" wide elastic (2 yards if the waist measurment is larger than 36") 1 dritz see through 2" x 18" ruler or a yard stick Chalk, fabric marking pen, or fabric pencil for marking on fabric Straight Pins Fabric Scissors Paper Scissors
