Madame Mathaleena #3: The Case of London Larceny (Multiplication, Count by 9s)
What's included
1 live meeting
50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This course immediately engages learners by giving them the role of detectives in the Mathematical Bureau of Investigations (MBI). As part of their training to join the MBI, the instructor helps students understand the number 9 through multiplication, division, and counting. Once they start the case, students work together to solve clues that use knowledge of the number 9. Students should have an understanding of addition with single digits (with answers in the double-digits). Using mathematics to "solve a crime" helps students see the relevance that mathematics plays in our every day lives, in addition to making it fun! The class works best for students who are starting to memorize their multiplication tables.
Learning Goals
1. Students will count by 9s.
2. Students will understand how skip counting is related to multiplication.
3. Students will have an understanding how how to solve problems related to 9 times tables.
