Class Experience
Textile art is an art form that uses fibers (plant, animal, synthetic, etc) and is one of the most primative methods of art (clothes, tapestries, etc.) Unlike weaving, macrame uses various types of knots to create patterned objects. In this class, students will learn a basic macrame knot to create a feather design that can be used as room decor or a wall hanging. Once the student learns how to create this feather, they may choose to create more for a fuller wall hanging. This class will...

Hello! I am a teaching artist for local parks and recreation departments, libraries, after school art and art centers.
Macrame cording color(s) of your choice ($4-8 per roll) I use 2mm x 220yards Tape to hold down your design Scissors Flat surface (table) Optional: Plastic hair comb (usually $1-2 or cat brush) Beads (be sure the cord fits through your beads) Natural stick or dowel to make wall art (hanging by the top loop is also an option)
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
