Beginner - Advanced Level
Before our first lesson, the student should provide the instructor with the following information: - Are you a Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced sewer on the sewing machine? - What sewing machine will you be using? - Do you have a specific project you would like to work on? - How often are you available to meet? With the above information, the instructor will provide the student with a tailored syllabus. The instructor shares their knowledge and years of experience to guide the student. --------------------------------------------------------------- 4 weeks- 4 Lessons: Week 1- Lesson 1 Introduction Introductions/ identifying the students' knowledge and identifying what will be obtained from our meetings. Safety when using the sewing machine. Student’s Sewing Machine will be presented. Questions will be addressed. Week 2- Lesson 2 The Sewing Machine -Our focus this week will be the sewing machine. Sewing machine and peddle should be connected and ready to be used. -The students' knowledge and experience on the sewing machine will be the focus. -Understanding how to use the machine is essential. We will talk about threading your machine, threading your bobbin, stitch lengths and width and backstitching. Please have your fabric sample close by as we will begin stitching. - The instructor will also provide some handouts. The student will be assigned some homework. -The instructor will introduce the sewing homework. -The instructor will discuss some past and possible projects. The student is to pick their project. -The sewing pattern and fabric will be discussed and determined. Week 3- Lesson -Check in on homework. -Address any questions. -Begin working on the final project. Week 4 Lesson 4 -Completion of sewing project. -Finishing touches and final questions will be addressed. -Presentation of Final Project.

All students are supported with what every unique learning needs are requested. Sewing is a wonderful gift that everyone should be able to learn.
Parental Guidance
Each learner in the class will be using sharp objects, such as needles and scissors.
Proper safety guidance and techniques will be shared by the educator.

Supply List
The instructor will provide handouts. Supplies needed: Sewing machine, scissors, thread, fabric. Please let the instructor know what level of the student is and what sewing machine (Name, model..) you will be using. All sessions will be tailored to the specific student.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Master's Degree in Fine/Studio Arts from University of Texas at Austin, Texas
The instructor has been creating her entire life. They started at a very young age, taught by her mother who produced garments for private clients. She has a passion for History of Fashion and started her educational career in Fashion Design and later in Costume Design. The instructor has worked professionally as a Costume Technician in theatre, opera and dance throughout the United States and Europe.
“It is wonderful to do what you love as a profession!” The instructor has over 30 years of experience professionally as a Costume Technician. She has a stong background in garment construction, flat patterning, tailoring, dyeing and painting and millinery.
The instructor is the mother of a 17 year old and a 13 year old and enjoys working will all age groups. She love to share her passion for sewing!

Do you enjoy creating? Would you like to create or alter your own wardrobe and accessories? Would you like to make your own costumes? You will be guided by a professional Costume Technician in this fantastic 4 week adventure to learn and create!
Through guidance and one-on-one experiences You will be able to design, alter and create and gain knowledge of using a sewing machine. Each week we will delve into the world of sewing, building up on your new skills. The instructor will guide you to create your final project.
This will be the beginning of creating your own world using your sewing machine. It can also be the next step for those who already have sewing skills. We will perfect and build upon you knowledge of the sewing machine and garment construction.
Please refer to the 4 weeks detailed class syllabus for more details about each week. Each lesson will be tailored for the individual student.
