Miss Linda will assess student using different resources, such as Khan Academy and IXL during first sessions and at regular intervals of the tutoring schedule (eg., monthly and/or quarterly).

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
During this 50-minute session, we will get acquainted with each other by practicing reviewing math problems for the current grade or taking an entire year assessment test to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, I encourage the parent to email me the math material/concepts the child is currently struggling to master.

The study plan will include a custom curriculum and handouts to help a student learn. My resources include:

•	Barron's Common Core Success
•	Barron's Core Focus
•	Evan-Moor Math
•	IXL Math
•	McGraw Hill Math
•	Spectrum Math

Once the student has mastered all the essential math strands/topics for their grade, we will move on to challenging assignments to move the student to the next grade level.

My style is interactive, so I will present one strategy at a time and then give your child a chance to practice several math problems via Zoom's Whiteboard with my guidance so I can see if they are mastering them before moving on to the next topic.

Additionally, we can tackle homework assignments and prepare for a test during these one-on-one sessions.

My goal is to find different (and fun) strategies that make sense to your child and will help them solve math problems independently.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence to complete their math assignments and be better prepared for math tests.

“Kahoot! is a global learning platform company. Kahoot! games can be played anywhere, in person or virtually, using any device with an internet connection.” A Kahoot! game is a quiz with multiple choice answers and the games include topics such as Year End Math Assessment. Kahoot! is a fun way to test a student's knowledge of a math topic such as adding fractions, multiplying decimals, solving for area of a rectangle. Kahoot! app is free and does not require an account. The teacher provides the website link (http://www.kahoot.it) and a game pin then the student creates a silly screen name; thus, no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Kahoot! “Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computing, history, art history, economics, and more, including K-14 and test preparation (SAT, Praxis, LSAT) content. We focus on skill mastery to help learners establish strong foundations, so there's no limit to what they can learn next!” Khan Academy is also a free app and for this class will not require an account. The teacher will share screen of quiz questions, so no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Khan Academy. "At IXL Learning, we are passionate about improving learning for all. We apply technology in thoughtful and innovative ways to unlock students' innate curiosity, creativity, and desire for knowledge. IXL Learning acquired Education.com in 2019. Education.com offers 30,000 digital and printable learning resources, including worksheets, online games, hands-on activities, lesson plans, and more, for preschool through eighth grade." Since IXL and Education.com are paid services, teacher will share screen of her account/worksheets so free to all students.
Supply List
1. Paper and pencil/pen
2. Please note in this class we will be using annotation tools for Zoom White Board to practice math problems. Unfortunately, Chromebook does NOT allow students to annotate on Zoom White Board so your child will need a different device. If a desktop with mouse, or laptop with touchpad/mouse is not available for student, ipad or tablets do allow annotation.
