In this one time class, students will learn ordinal numbers and learn to graph using M&M candies.
Class experience
Beginning with a song and dance, I will introduce the concept of ordinal numbers. Terminology such as: first, second, third, grouping, etc. will all be discussed. The students will then sort their M&M candies into color groups. I will read an excerpt of "More M&M's Math" by Barbara McGrath, before we create a graph using their M&Ms. (PDF printout provided before class). Hello from Texas! Although I am currently residing in Texas, we move quite often and that has allowed me to have many different types of career experiences. I have tutored privately and through well-known organizations; taught in the public school classroom setting with a self-contained classroom (including 4th grade and Texas History); substituted and interned in private school classroom settings; instructed at the community college level (History); assisted with museum operations; and homeschooled my three munchkins. I have worked with early education all the way up to the community college level. My Bachelors is in childhood education with a Master's in American History.
