Class Experience

Welcome to Lulu's Lab! In this class, we will use basic household materials to create a homemade Lava lamp. We will discuss the scientific method, chemical and physical changes, and lab safety. Students may follow along with the experiment steps at home or may just watch and interact with the class.

Students will practice the scientific method, following directions, and lab safety. Students will learn the difference between physical and chemical changes.

Parental Guidance
As with any science experiment, your child needs appropriate adult supervision. You know your child best!
Supply List
If students would like to complete the experiment at home, they will need....
An empty water bottle or glass or jar
Baby oil or cooking oil (enough to fill your above container halfway- three/fourths full)
Food coloring (optional)
Glitter (optional)
White table salt (just plain old salt)
Spoon
Alka Seltzer tablets
Water
Small objects like beads, orbeez, table scatter, etc. (Optional)
