Description
Class Experience
- Accuracy: We’ll focus on strategies we can use to read words that might be new or unfamiliar. These strategies might include using known phonetic patterns, using sentence clues, or using illustrations and pictures. - Fluency: Through repeated reading and modeling during read aloud, we’ll work on being fluent readers. Aspects of fluent reading might include tone of voice, use of punctuation, and reading at an appropriate speed. - Comprehension: Through conversations around specific texts, readers will be guided to use evidence and their background knowledge to answer comprehension questions. Important aspects of comprehension depend on the readers’ grade/reading level, but can include topics such as character motivation, character feelings, character perspective, or keeping track of text events.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
