Does your family love Lord of the Rings? Do they love epic fantasy storytelling and roleplaying? This is a great fit for them, and we're excited to offer The One Ring 2e, that will take players to Middle Earth, West of the Misty Mountains, all the way to Erabor, Lake Town, Mirkwood...and beyond. This class is taught in English.
Students develop their social confidence, teamwork capabilities, problem solving skills, and the relationship between actions and consequences.
The DnD Club has organized and taught groups of Dungeons and Dragons for over 5,000 students and community members, running games professionally for private clients between the ages of 8-70 years old. Our teachers and GMs train together on best practices, are almost all traditional classroom teachers, and work to ensure an excellent experience for each child, every class. It's our mission that your child feels empowered and excited after this lesson, potentially sparking an interest in a wonderful activity.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Role-playing games offer a creative "sandbox" in which participants can engage in imaginative problem solving. Fantasy violence will not be directly depicted, but the possibilities of this within the game will be discussed. Students may wish to explore ideas related to their characters that involve in-game "weapons" and "spells" for the use of "in-game" violence. This specific RPG involves fear and fright as core elements of storytelling. Players are struggling against "the darkness" of the Dark Lord Sauron. While we always keep imagery age appropriate, these themes will be present as a core part of the game. Player v. Player combat is not allowed.
Should families wish to purchase The One Ring 2e physical book, a link will be provided in the welcome message. This resource is optional, and some may enjoy having this to dig into for their use. It contains source material similar in tone to the Lord of the Rings novel books and films. As with any resource, parents should use their discretion before purchase and distribution to students. We ensure that the materials distributed to students as part of the class are age appropriate and in accordance with the listed themes in the parental guidance section. No external online sources are required outside of Outschool. We will use an instructor screen share of visual maps/layouts for players. No parental accounts of third party websites are required.
