Loom Beading -You Name It!
What's included
4 live meetings
3 in-class hoursClass Experience
This is a beginning loom beadwork unit. Students will need to come to class with their supplies and be ready to start! *I will not be teaching knot tying. Students need to know how to tie simple knots. If threading a needle is difficult, older siblings or an adult should be ready to assist. Students will learn: - vocabulary related to bead weaving (warp, weft) -learn how to design a beadwork pattern on grid paper and use symmetry to center it. -how to warp a loom -how to wax thread -how to weave -how to add thread -how to weave-in and weave-backwards -how to remove and end their beaded strip **problem solving and patience are required. I will demonstrate repeatedly and give ample time for students to work. In the likely event there is a knot in the loom string, bring your patience... it happens to everyone! Because I am not in the classroom to help, you the student, must be resilient and problem solve, think like an artist. Never give up and just keep trying. Once this technique is learned it’s very easy. I will demonstrate with extra-large beads and the beads we will use for our first project. As your skill level increases you can switch to even smaller beads. You can print out as many copies of the grid paper you need to design as many beaded strips or bracelets as you want. Day 1- Pattern making, warping, waxing - Demo beading, unbeading (fixing mistakes) Day 2- Adding thread; review unbeading, work day Day 3- How to end; work day Day 4- Work; Q & A; Bead size examples; Show and tell! *Class times are approximate and vary based on student ability and number of enrolled learners. Classes are designed so that they will not run longer and 5 minutes after the time allotted.* *Late/Missed Class Policy* All courses will begin on time as long as one learner is in the classroom. If no students are in the classroom at the assigned class time, the teacher will leave a message on the discussion board and exit after 10 min. Enrolling in class does not guarantee access to class recordings - per OutSchool's policy, they are shared at the teacher's discretion and sometimes have to remain private to ensure learner safety.
