US Grade 4 - 5
Welcome to the long division class. In this class, student will learn long division the old fashion way using dividend, divisor, quotient and remainder. The dividend is the number on the right side of the equation, under the line. It represents the amount being divided. The divisor is the number on the left -- it’s the one doing the dividing. The quotient is the number on the top. It represents the answer, or the number of units in each place value once the equation has been completed. The remainder is the number on the top right. It represents the units left over that can’t be evenly divided into the quotient. Mastering Math concepts takes time and it is a process that requires patience to:- - Introduce the concept. - Practice, practice and practice some more. - Master the concept. - Teach another person. This takes an average of 4 weeks depending on the student. We keep the class small on purpose, so that each student gets the individualized help when needed per class. ****Students MUST be fluent in Multiplication Table before attending this class at least to 12 X 12 ****Homework is a MUST in this class. Five days a week, 5 Questions a days. Students must be willing to devote this time to master the concept. Week 1: Long Division without remainder Day 1: Simple equations Day 2: Review and Reinforcement Week 2: Long Division with remainder using ones dividend and tens divisor.
