1 hour per week. Homework will be to complete the activities of each lesson prior to beginning the next lesson.Assessment
The student will have the option of submitting work to the classroom for feedback (within 24 hours).Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 7
I will provide students with the notes, examples, activities and directions needed to seamlessly follow through each lesson. Your student will be encouraged to take notes as they move through the lessons as this will help them understand the examples and complete the puzzles, and I will respond to any questions that may be posted via Outschool messages. There will be 4 lessons total, with each lesson being posted on Sundays by 12 noon (Eastern Standard Time) for families opting for the weekly lessons. The goal will be to try and complete the entire lesson prior to the release of the next lesson- with completion time taking no more than 4 weeks. By the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to use a set of strategies to solve problems and think critically to devise solutions for problems.
Learning Goals
In this FLEX class, students will:
-use a restaurant menu to practice estimation skills (along with decimal operations)
-use clues to determine how to extend a pattern of numbers (some graphing of ordered pairs included)
-use inverse operations/mental math to solve emoji puzzles and magic number squares
-solve logic problems

Supply List
It would be nice for students to have a three-ring binder in order to keep track of assignments and notes each week. I will provide a PDF via Outschool messages that will explain to students what needs to be for the week (objective, discussion question, notes and assessment). A calculator and graph paper would be nice items to have, however, when possible, I will suggest websites that may have the tools that a learner may need (example: online calculators).
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
