1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will get an up-close experience of what it's like to live with rescue pigs, from a farm animal sanctuary. We will discuss facts about pigs that most people don't know, like that families of pigs sleep snuggled belly to belly or snout to snout well into adulthood, or that they are so smart they can figure out how to open the refrigerator! We will watch some humorous, touching, and clever videos that will allow the pigs to show you themselves how unique and fascinating they are. And we will explain how our lives were changed forever when we rescued just one pig and her baby while living on the second story floor of a condo with a no-pets policy, and then later became a non-profit farm animal sanctuary for pigs and many other animals. The class will be interactive, with a chance for students to discuss what we are learning as we go.
Learning Goals
Students will get to experience what it's like to live with pigs as companions, learn about pig family and social dynamics, pig intelligence, and all the good, bad, and unexpected surprises that come from sharing your life with such unique beings.
