Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this class we will integrate science with art by examining the reason behind leaves turning different colors in the fall, and creating a colorful painting of leaves. During week 1, we will discuss the colors that leaves turn in the fall, and why. Students will draw or trace leaves in an overlapping design, using crayons in fall leaf colors. Homework may consist of finishing the drawing if it is not completed in class. During week 2, we will review the science discussed in the first class, practice wet-in-wet technique, and paint the leaves that were previously drawn. If time allows, we will hold a class critique. Background knowledge in painting or science of fall leaves is not required.

Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
