Beginner - Intermediate Level
This class is part of my Contemporary Artist Series, in which we learn about artists from the mid-20th century to today, analyze their art style and subject, and make a creation inspired by their art. Week 1: We will study who Robin Mead is, her contribution to art, and her art style, and begin using the elements of art to draw a sunset with ocean waves that is inspired by her art. Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to Robin Mead; Starting the ArtWe will study who Robin Mead is, her contribution to art, and her art style, and begin using the elements of art to draw a sunset with ocean waves that is inspired by her art. We will outline this drawing with a Sharpie and color in small details with colored pencils or crayons.Week 2Lesson 2Finishing the ArtWe will review Mead's art style, and review warm vs. cool colors. We will use warm colors (reds, oranges and yellows) to paint the sunset and cool colors (blues, greens and purples) to paint the ocean and some other land details such as tree leaves, etc.
Students will solidify their understanding of warm and cool colors by drawing and painting a landscape with said colors. Students will learn about a contemporary, living, working American artist.
