Class experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
2 lessons//2 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction to Mary Blair; Starting the Art
We will look at examples of her art and discuss lines, shapes, patterns and colors, and then practice drawing our own castles in a similar style. Once students have an idea of what they want theirs to look like, they will be able to start designing their final copy, and trace it with a Sharpie or similar permanent black marker.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Finishing the Art
We will review colors, and I will demonstrate 2-3 different techniques with crayons, markers, watercolor paint, and colored pencils. Students will be able to choose the media with which they prefer to finish their castles.
Students will strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the elements of art, basic line, shape, pattern and color, to construct a work of art. Students will learn art history (learning about a famous artist).
Homework Offered
Possible homework might occur after the first class; if students need to catch up to have their castle outlined with a black Sharpie prior to the second class.
