Beginner - Intermediate Level
Through the guided drawing process, students will learn the simple technique for creating a drawing that ends up looking like a heart-shaped jewel or gemstone. We will draw or trace a heart (template will be provided to download and print shortly before class starts if the student needs it), then locate points do draw dots from which lines will be drawn to give the appearance of a faceted jewel. This will then be traced, preferably with a black Sharpie or black crayon. Students may use watercolor paint, watercolor pencils, crayons or markers to color each space. An alternative (by use of color) to the faceted gem may be a stained glass look. This will be discussed in class and students will be given the choice of which they prefer.

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
