US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
We will discuss the types of winter scenes/objects often found in real snowglobes, look at actual snowglobes, and practice drawing selected themes. We will draw or trace a large circle on a white piece of paper, and transfer our sketches to the inside of the circle shape. We will then create a base on the same or additional paper, finalize items and color with the media of students' choice, finally cutting out the whole piece (or pieces, if the circle and base were on two pieces of paper; in which the pieces can be glued with a gluestick).
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students may need to use scissors to complete the project; parental guidance and observance may be needed for this part of the activity.
Supply List
White paper (drawing paper is best, but copy paper works) A large lid or other circle to trace OR a compass if the student already has skill in using one. PLEASE NOTE: I will not have time in this class to TEACH how to use a compass, so if chosen, it is important that the student is already comfortable using one! Pencil, sharpener, eraser Any of the following for adding color: Crayons, markers, gel pens, colored pencils Scissors Glue/gluestick if globe and base were drawn on separate papers **OPTIONAL:** White, iridescent glitter or glitter glue is a really beautiful addition for snow, but is not necessary, and may not be mentioned in class, but can be used by the student if desired.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

As a veteran art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
