Beginner Level
**PLEASE NOTE** Occasionally, I run a class with fewer than 3 students. When I do, the class often runs shorter than the amount of time listed, due to the fact that less time is used with introductions, or with differing abilities and processing speeds in different students. In this class, if the template is used, it will shorten class time considerably for 1-2 students. The content is exactly the same, and in fact, can be considered a bargain for what became a private class. In this fun, one-time class, students will learn about the color wheel, how primary, secondary, and intermediate colors are arranged on it, and how artists use the color wheel. Then we will compare and contrast how colors are arranged on the rainbow. Students will draw (or use provided handout) an umbrella with eight sections, for ease of structure, and discuss the color order. We will add the lower body of a person, including the bottom of a rain jacket and boots, as well as draw rain and water puddles. We will color the umbrella in modified rainbow order (ROYGBIV + Pink)., color the raincoat and boots, and finally, the raindrops and puddles to complete our pictures.

Supply List
A printable of an umbrella with 8 equal spaces will be provided prior to class. Students will need: Paper (if they are drawing their own umbrella) or the printed handout Pencil and eraser Sharpie or other similar black marker (permanent is best so the black doesn't smear the other colors) Markers, crayons or colored pencils (I will be using Crayola markers).

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
