Beginner Level
Students will learn about the pop artist Chris Uphues, and the fun ways in which he creates heart characters. Through the step-by-step guided drawing process provided by the teacher, Students will practice drawing different cartoon-style facial expressions for adding to different sized hearts that they will draw. Once drawn, we will color using media of choice (this can be marker, crayon, colored pencil, watercolor pencil, or anything else the student chooses) to color each heart as well as the background. Because students work at varied paces, artwork may or may not be finished/colored before class ends.

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
