Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Advanced Level
Through my guided drawing process, students will learn how to draw a realistic-looking tiger eye. We will examine and discuss the shape of the iris and pupil, placement on the head, and the colors and patterns in the fur around the eye. We will use specific techniques to make the eye look round, real, and shiny, as well as techniques to make the fur look realistic. Colored pencils are the recommended medium for this class due to the precision and accuracy with which they can be used. While some students will complete the drawing by or before the end of this class, others might require more time after class to finish theirs. I never expect any of my students to rush to finish their art by the end of my art classes. I always encourage them to work at the pace that is comfortable to them, and that it is fine to not have a finished work of art by the time class ends. They may upload their art after it is finished if they would like!

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing and painting lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
