Students will improve their ability to perform in a live setting. They will increase self-confidence and learn performance etiquette like introducing a piece with presence, enduring through mistakes and musical blunders, pausing upon completion, accepting applause, and bowing or thanking the audience. Students will be encouraged to set weekly practice goals and track their practice in a reflective journal.
Students will be encouraged to set weekly practice goals and track their practice in a reflective journal. Sharing practice reflections in meetings is optional.
Instrument Notebook to serve for keeping notes during class, set and track practice goals, and write practice reflections.
Learners will receive a weekly written assessment recapping their strengths and what to work on in their live performance.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Examples of live performances by professional musicians on youtube will be referenced. All performances will be age-appropriate. These examples serve two-fold: to broaden the learner's exposure to music and to serve as models of effective performance.
