Learning goals include introduction to musicality and rhythm, locomotion and gross motor movement, creative movement and expression, social engagement, and fun for learners!
I am a certified childhood educator with a background in dance and movement. I have a bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina where I studied history as well as education and modern/contemporary dance. I have experience teaching dance, ballet, gymnastics, and movement with the YMCA of WNC and Asheville Community Movement Gymnastics Center. No Homework will be assigned for this class.
Students will need a small scarf or ribbon for movement play. Any small cloth such as a bandana or dish rag will be fine. Please have enough space for your learner to move comfortably, and dress in moveable attire. Water breaks may be given throughout each class. Please have a beverage nearby to keep dancers hydrated.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessment will be provided upon parent request.
30 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
Parental guidance is not required for this class; however, parents should be advised that physical activities such as dance can cause injury. Please make sure students have appropriate space and attire to ensure safety during class instruction. Younger learners may need help navigating the ZOOM platform. Please familiarize your learner with the mute/ unmute feature if you are unable to assist them during class time.
