Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Welcome to my Outschool classroom! My name is Casey Ray, and I live in the beautiful state of Washington! I am a Washington state certified elementary teacher (K-8), a mother of two, and an animal lover (especially llamas and penguins). I love to see new things and explore nature and the world.

I received my BA in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University, and my Masters in Education - Reading Specialist Endorsement from Liberty University. I have experience teaching Pre-K through 3rd grade as well as teaching online as an ESL teacher to children ages 4-10.

My passion is teaching reading skills to children K4-2nd grade as well as incorporating elements of STEM and STEAM-focused learning throughout my lessons. I love to encourage learners to build up their self-esteem by strengthening their skills through various activities that focus on letter recognition, phonemic awareness, sight words, and fluency. As an Elementary and ESL teacher, I find so much joy in teaching children to read, but I believe that learning is so much more than reading words from a book! Learning through play and hands-on activities allows children to make sense of the world around them through discovery. Experiencing these activities first-hand allows them to develop cognitively, socially, and emotionally. Through play, children learn a set of skills as the following: social skills, creativity, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, fine and gross motor skills, and positive self-esteem.

My classes will always be inclusive, engaging, student-centered, include movement, and be focused around a fun individualized learning experience! I eagerly anticipate meeting your child soon in my classroom! I hope our time together leaves them bubbling over with excitement!

See you soon!
- Ms. Casey
