Welcome to the Little Ninjas class! This is month 2 of the Little Ninjas class. While enrollment in Month 1 is highly encouraged, there will be adequate review for new students, as well.

In this small group class, we will be utilizing martial arts movements to play and explore with our bodies. We'll get our heart rates up, our bodies active, and have a lot of fun doing so! We'll be using games to learn about various kicks and punches, and the use of short ninja-related books to help reinforce movement concepts and social-emotional growth (such as the idea that ninjas are kind helpers!).

With over 17 years teaching preschool and kindergarten aged students, 8 years homeschooling my own four children, and multiple fitness certifications, I have found I most enjoy making learning a fun process, especially when it comes to health and fitness! I have a black belt in MMA (comprised of a Tae Kwon Do/Muay Thai/Boxing/Jiu jitsu blend), and love sharing martial arts with others, especially young children! If your child has ever had interest in martial arts, karate, or ninjas, this class is for them!

Each class in this four time series, we will:
-Warm up with exercises
-Introduce at least one new kick, knee, or punch (these will build upon each other weekly):
--Class 1: Review previous concepts
--Class 2: Review, add superman punch, round house kick
--Class 3: Review, add ground movement & striking (bring a pillow to class!)
--Class 4: Review, add axe kick
-Play games to reinforce these concepts and get our heart rates up
-Create combos based on learned concepts (i.e. stringing together Jab-cross-hook-front kick)
-Read one short ninja book
-Discuss how we can be kind ninjas, helpful ninjas, etc. in our own homes.

Parental Guidance
Parental supervision is recommended as this is a physical movement class for younger children. Adequate space to move, free of tripping hazards and anything a child might be injured by, is very important. Lack of supervision may result in injury. Please have your child wear comfortable clothing for movement, and a water bottle nearby.
Supply List
Please have your ninja wear comfortable clothing for moving around/kicking. Please also set up in an area with enough space to move around. Week 3 & 4, please have a pillow available for your student.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! My name is Jessica, and I am a homeschooling mom to four children. I have worked with preschool and kinder aged children for over 15 years, and have done everything from running a preschool center, teaching classes, and designing curriculums for use by others. I also owned my own music business for a few years, teaching children 6 months-5 years the foundational aspects of music. I will offer your young children active, engaging, and fun classes on a variety of topics!

I have my black belt in mma (mix of Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, American Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), as well as a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu, and regularly teach classes to everyone from toddlers to adults. I love helping children make a connection between fitness/health and fun by making workouts a fun experience rather than one to dread.

I am a certified group fitness instructor, and carry an additional certification as a Youth Exercise Specialist. I love helping teens and preteens explore how they can be strong, healthy, and active individuals. I hope to give your teenaged children, whether they are active athletes or not, a great workout through a variety of offerings for fitness, strength, agility, etc.

I have a personal love for financial responsibility. Although I run several websites, I especially enjoy running my site dedicated to helping others how to live debt free and financially wise lives. I love teaching children about entrepreneurship and money matters through fun thematic units such as “building their own cupcake shop”, to help them understand money in a practical, meaningful, way.

I hope that my experience in these areas, as well as my background and love for teaching children will lead to inspiring classes that your children leave feeling accomplished, encouraged, and eager to come back for more!
