In this 5 week course, students will learn beginning piano songs and beginning theory and techniques. Students do not need any prior experience for this class. Although interest in music is beneficial. We will use the piano book for learning songs and the supplemental book for Theory & Technique exercises. My method of teaching is personable and fun. I love teaching young students new concepts. The objectives below are subject to change depending on the abilities and age of students. We may review concepts as needed or move faster as needed. Objectives Week One: Students will learn the piano basics- Sitting at the piano, finger numbers, black keys, low and high sounds Week Two: Students will learn basic rhythms- quarter notes, half notes, bar lines, left and right hand positions. Week Three: Students will learn the musical alphabet with learning the notes C,D,E right hand, A,B,C left hand Week Four: Students will add to their musical alphabet knowledge with learning the notes C,D,E,F,G right hand, F,G,A,B,C left hand, and whole note rhythm. Week Five: Students will learn the Middle C position with notes F,G,A,B,C,D,E,F,G from left to right hand and musical punctuation the repeat sign *If a class becomes a private lesson it will 30 minutes. **If student absence occurs, the recording to class will be made available for them to catch up with the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn beginning theory methods, learn letter names of piano keys, and learn easy songs to practice these methods.

Parental Guidance
For the first few classes, younger students may benefit from having an adult nearby to help find pages, and with hand placement on the keyboard.

Hello! Welcome to Little Musicians-Beginning Piano. I have been involved with music since I was a young musician myself. I studied vocal music and piano in school as well as being a part of various musical groups for 30 years. After college, I developed a music business and music summer camp. Years later I went on to study Counseling and became a School-Based Counselor. Although I have been a Counselor and worked in the School System with youth, I am thrilled to return to teaching music with Outschool.
