In this 8 week class, students will learn basic music skills with quarter notes, quarter rests, steady beats and tempo with friends, Mozart Mouse, Beethoven Bear, J. S. Bunny, Naneral Mouse, and Pachelbel Penguin.

Class Experience
Come ready to sing and play during a musical class with Teacher Kay and her good friends Mozart Mouse, Beethoven Bear, and their NEW Friends J.S. Bunny, Naneral Mouse, and Pachelbel Penguin!  We will learn the JOY of the basic skills of music in a fun and friendly way. Each week we will sing a song with hand actions and movement and move with actions to music with our Musid Friends.

  The weekly lessons are structured with a simple routine of movement, singing, and interacting in class  The music class will begin with Teacher Kay singing our opening song that we will repeat each week.  The students will learn the words and actions to the songs.  Then Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear will greet the students and introduce the music skill of the day.  Teacher Kay will play an interactive activity to learn the music skill.  Then we will play a game reinforcing the skills.  Students will also learn a new music rhyme each week.  They will love anticipating the new rhymes!  We will close the lesson with our weekly goodbye song. Teacher Kay keeps the whole class fun with her positive and happy personality.  And will take the extra time to learn each one of the students in the class.The goal of the class is for students to learn to love music!  They will surely look forward to our music class each week.  No musical background is required.

Hi there!  I am Kay Wiens, a Licenced Elementary Teacher and a Music and Art Specialist  

1)  I LOVE teaching music, art,  social studies, language arts, American sign language, English, math and science too!  I offer a variety of classes such as music, art, sig language and  core classes to students of all ages.  Currently,  I teach preschool and elementary music and art classes in which students explore singing, playing, and moving to music in addition to creating and drawing art.  My teaching goal is to inspire students of all ages so they can learn and develop necessary building blocks to succeed in school and life.   

2) I have over 25 years of teaching experience .  I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with a valid Teacher's License in Elementary Education and also Classroom and Vocal Music.  I have taught in a variety of classroom and private settings.  I currently teach classroom music and art in an elementary school for grades  K-5.  For over 20 years I have owned and taught in my private Piano and Flute Studio for students ages 3-75+. 

3) I believe every student has the potential to thrive and grow in a supportive and creative learning environment.  Therefore, I teach with a focus on each and every student. I prepare my students to embrace their skills in a variety of subjects for life long learning. 

4) Something fun about me is that I am a twin!  I have an identical twin sister and we are just alike!   Our favorite hobby is to design and create gingerbread creations!  One of my favorite gingerbread scenes that I created was an edible Cinderella's Castle!
