Beginner Level
Join me in this fun, engaging class to learn 4 Christmas songs! These songs are beginner level 1 Christmas songs. Each week, I will present my prerecorded video and provide a song and worksheet you will need to download. I will be checking in each day to see who has posted any videos or pictures of practice time on the piano to answer questions and give helpful suggestions. Students will be encouraged to share their performance on the piano/keyboard with the class by the end of each week by uploading a video to our classroom on Outschool so that fellow students and I can give positive feedback in the classroom to give a sense of community in the classroom. In addition to becoming a young musician performing on the piano/keyboard, it is my hope for all the students to appreciate all their fellow students" hard work, encourage each other, and gain confidence in their own abilities to perform on the piano. Since this is a flex class, there are no live meetings; however, I am available to answer your questions any time during the 4 weeks of class! Also, having the prerecorded video allows you to replay parts of the video at any time, for extra help as needed :). In each class, we will first go over each of the following before playing the song of the week: • The notes in the song and hand position • The rhythm and clap out the beats • Any other notation needed to know prior to learning the song By the end of the course, each student will be able to perform 4 Christmas songs on the piano/keyboard. Week 1: Jolly Old St. Nicholas Week 2: O Christmas Tree Week 3: Deck The Halls Week 4: We Wish You a Merry Christmas

My name is Sharon Gustin. I majored in Science and Music at SUNY Potsdam. I served as an Education Consultant at ‘Kindermusik’, working with PreK and Kindergarten teachers to learn how to implement Kindermusik, a literacy, and language curriculum that uses music as a vehicle for learning!
I have 30 years’ worth of experience teaching children in my OWN music studio, where I held “Little Musicians” classes for 3 - 5 years old. The immense popularity of these classes with the kids led me to extend them up to 9 years old because STUDENTS DID NOT WANT THE CLASS TO END.
Thanks to Outschool, I can bring my zest, spirit, and experience to your little one.
My teaching style is fun and engaging. Using songs, rhymes, listening activities, and other school readiness activities, I incorporate all three approaches to learning (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) to ensure every learner leaves class excited about what they have learned and craving to return to learn even more!
