Class Experience

Students will learn letters and letter sounds.
Students will learn sight words.
Students will practice social skills through discussion in class.
I have years of experience teaching literacy skills in the elementary school. I am currently working on my Master's in Reading and have taken many professional development courses to continue my craft in providing effective instruction that helps students achieve goals and become successful learners. More than anything, I am just a person who cares and wants children to feel successful and accomplished.
I encourage students to continue to practice skills from class to retain skills and build upon what they have learned. Handouts may be provided through the classroom tab at times but are for practice at home and not required to be turned in as homework.
These are good supplies to keep on hand for every class: Crayons Paper Play dough is an excellent supply to keep on hand. It’s great for fine motor skills and practicing forming the letters we are learning each week. At times, I may ask students to bring other materials and fun supplies that we can use to increase student engagement and fun in learning! Handouts will be provided in the classroom tab that students may bring to complete during class. If you do not have access to a printer, that is perfectly fine! Students can still learn and have fun!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will assessed students informally through their ability to answer questions and discuss during class.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents please be aware of items we may use in class that make be allergy-sensitive (play dough, snack foods, etc.) for your child and make any substitutions necessary. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me!
