3 in-class hoursHomework
1 hour per week. Homework is recommended 10-15 minutes per day. Spending time practicing your new Hindi vocabulary at home will help it stick!Class Experience
This 30 minute class is designed as a continuation of Little Learners Intro to Hindi or for students who have taken a few classes of Hindi previously! Learners aged 3-5 will love this introduction to the Hindi language! (Note that I also have a one hour class for 5-9 year olds, parents may choose a 30 or 60 minute format for their 5 year old depending on interest and attention level.) This class will be a fun and interactive way to experience the Hindi language. Printables and resources will be posted in the classroom at the beginning of each week. We will begin each class with an introduction, "Namaste, mera naam _____ hai," (Hello, my name is ____), and a review of our previous week's topic. Then we will learn and practice with 3-4 new vocabulary words. Through games, activities, and songs/video clips we will build a solid foundation with our new vocabulary. Topics will be as follows but may change according to the levels and needs of learners in the class. Week 1: Colors Identifying colors in Hindi and using color words in a sentence. "This is a red apple." Week 2: Opposites Learning opposite words (big/small, tall/short) and using them with previous vocabulary words. "This is a small toy. This is a big toy." Week 3: Parts of the Face Identifying and using the parts of the face (eyes, ears, mouth, nose) vocabulary in a sentence. Week 4: Parts of the Body Identifying and using the parts of the body (head, shoulders, knees, toes) vocabulary in a sentence. Week 5: Numbers and Counting Counting from 1-10 in Hindi and using number words in a sentence. "I am 4 years old." Week 6: Verbs Using common verbs (running, walking, sitting) in a sentence about myself and others. Review of all previous vocabulary through a fun "assessment".

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University
Namaste! My name is Teacher Carly Karma and I am passionate about teaching, travel, culture, and language! I have over ten years of experience in classrooms all over the world! I completed my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, where I taught for a few years before moving to India in 2017. During my three years living in India, I learned the language and culture, and ate a lot of amazing food! I also met my (now) husband who is from New Delhi. We speak both English and Hindi in our home, and we are raising bilingual kids. When we moved back to America in 2020, I took my love of language and culture with me and am excited to offer small group Hindi classes as well as one-on-one tutoring to various ages and levels of learners! My classes are filled with fun activities, games, songs, and lots of time listening to Hindi for exposure to the language. You can expect your student to enjoy an energetic lesson each time they take class! I can't wait to meet you soon! Jaldi milenge!
