Welcome to Painting Rainbows! In this class, young Learners will draw their own rainbow using simple shapes they already know. We'll discuss and practice holding the paintbrush properly, identify the primary colors and how to mix secondary colors, and, of course, paint a beautiful rainbow! This will be a joyful, confidence boosting class for Learners who want to play with paint and color! It may get a bit messy (you know your little one best!) so laying newspaper underneath their painting or having paper towels on stand-by is a great idea! Learners will need paper, pencil, paintbrushes, and paint (red, yellow, and blue) to create their beautiful paintings. Who is the teacher? I'm Miss J! I have been teaching and working with children for almost 15 years. I'm a children's entertainer and most weekends you'll find me at birthday parties painting faces, twisting balloons, and performing children's magic shows! But during the week I'm teaching private art and crafts classes to children. I love sharing the joy of art and I believe it can really grow a child's imagination, heart, and mind.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to recognize primary colors and mix secondary colors confidently.
Students will develop fine motors skills and coordination as they gain experience using a paintbrush.
Students will gain confidence as artists.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Outschool Families!
I am Miss J and I've been a professional children's entertainer for the last ten years! I run a small business in the Pacific Northwest offering family entertainment including balloon animals, face painting, magic shows, educational shows about reading and science, and painting parties! I perform mainly for birthday parties, but also childcare facilities, libraries, and schools. Before my entertainment business, I was a preschool teacher and have continued to offer private art tutoring for more than a decade.
My experience means I'll be offering classes in art and painting, face painting, and magic! Sometimes, these particular skills may seem like silly hobbies, but they nurture imagination and build children's confidence and fine motor skills. I love working with kids and have a natural energy and patience with them. I believe children thrive with encouragement and when they feel seen and heard. Learning can come in lots of forms and should always be fun!
Lastly, I want to share that I'm a mom who uses Outschool, too! I have 3 kiddos of my own. Two are elementary age and love using Outschool!
I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions!
