In this ongoing class, we will go on a virtual scavenger hunt through different cities across the world. As we explore different cities together on our imaginary day trips, learners will be given a list of items to spot that are iconic to each city. Learners can expect to learn fun facts about each city while searching for items on our virtual scavenger hunt and will be able to recall these facts through various games throughout the lesson. For each city that we visit, learners will become familiar with famous landmarks, different foods, and the language is spoken in that city. Learners will be able to see where each city is located on a map. Each learner will be provided with two printable worksheets. The first printable worksheet will be a map that includes the country and city we are visiting, and the second worksheet will include a list of items to spot on our scavenger hunt. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Claudia, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher! I live in the state of Connecticut in the USA and have a bachelor's degree in nutritional science from the University of Connecticut.
One of my main passions is traveling and learning about different cultures. I have traveled to over 30 counties, and have learned so much through my travels. I grew up in The Netherlands, and am fluent in Dutch. I have also spent close to two and a half years working as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uganda, East Africa. During this time I ran a grandmother support group, but also taught nutrition, health, and science classes at local elementary schools. When I returned from Uganda I worked at a local nature center where I taught science-based animal education classes.
I have been teaching English as a second language online since the beginning of 2017, and have taught over 5,000 classes to my students in China. In addition to this, I also held a position in my company where I coach and train incoming teachers on how to teach online.
My classes will always be fun, high energy, and interactive. I plan to teach a variety of different subjects such as Dutch, culture and travel classes, as well as science and nature-based classes.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family. My husband and I have two daughters who are 9 and 6 years old. We love to spend lots of time outside hiking with our dog Willow.
I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!
