Class Experience

In this ongoing class, little learners who don't read yet will get to meet up in a small group once a week to report on a book that was read to them that week. Learners will get to share their thoughts on each book and celebrate their love of books together. As the teacher I will both lead the meetings and participate as a member of the club so that there will be plenty of interaction between the learners and myself, as well as the learners and each other. This class is all about socializing and connecting over an appreciation of books. Each class will be made up of discussing whatever book myself and each learner happens to share for class that day, so the books we talk about will always be a surprise for the club members.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Grown-ups will be asked to post their learner's book choice prior to class to ensure that it is an appropriate book to share in class. This also gives other parents the chance to opt out of the meeting if they deem it necessary. Please be sure that the book your child chooses is free of curse words and offensive imagery.
Supply List
Please bring a book each week to share in class!
External Resources

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a recent M.F.A. in Screenwriting graduate who just loves to tell stories and make miniatures! I have loved telling stories since I was a young child performing at storytelling events, and have continued to be a storyteller across many jobs. I worked in three separate departments during my near six-year employment at the Disneyland Resort, including Guest Relations where I excelled in giving tours of the park. But it would not be my only time as a tour guide. Since then I have also given guided tours of both Warner Bros. Studios and Paramount Pictures, and have worked in the post-production department of a television production company. I recently returned to school to earn my Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting degree, with which I aspire to be a professional screenwriter someday.

I have been a teacher on Outschool since 2020, with current class topics including: Playdough miniature cake-making and Fairytale Fill-in-the-Blanks parts of speech practice. My teaching philosophy is simple: If the lesson is taught with enthusiasm and passion, no matter the subject, the student will be receptive to learning. I believe in building kids up, striving to incite excitement for the subject matter, and always doing my utmost to make them feel respected as learners. I believe in laughing and creating, and I believe in the power that comes with being a critical thinker. It is my goal to facilitate laughter, encourage creativity, and instill critical thinking skills within my students in a way that gives them confidence and makes their learning experiences with me memorable.
