Description
Class Experience
Join me for a four week, flexible schedule, baking course. From magical candies to scrumptious chocolate bark, we'll cook tasty recipes to impress any unicorn fan. This is Recipe Set 1 of a series of Little Bakers: Unicorn Treats classes, the sets can be completed in any order. This is a flexible schedule class, there are no live lessons. Students can complete the lessons in their own time over each week. If learners enrol late, they will still have full access to the classroom and can...
Learners will be able to follow a recipe step-by-step. Learners will be able to make a unicorn treat to share with family or friends.
I am an experienced school teacher (3-11 year olds), and I have also worked at a number of Summer camps. I was the counsellor in charge of the cooking groups for a couple of years of Summer camp. I enjoy baking in my free time.
Learners will need to measure out their ingredients before following the recipe videos. Learners are encouraged to help to clean up their baking space after class.
Below are the ingredients and equipment needed for week 1: Ingredients - Egg, confectioners/powdered/icing sugar, pink and yellow food colors (or pick your own colors), flavoring (optional), small candies (mini m&Ms or similar). Kitchen equipment - Mixing bowl, baking parchment/foil/cling wrap, something sharp to poke eyes with (toothpick, skewer, knitting needle), small bowl/mug, blunt knife (optional). Ingredient and equipment lists for weeks 2-4 will be posted in the classroom a week before they are needed. A new recipe sheet will also be shared at the start of each week, you may print this if you wish, or just follow along with the steps in the video.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
When you enroll in this class, you accept full responsibility for your learner's safety. It is essential that a responsible adult is in the same room as the learner and ready to step in to help if necessary. Some recipes will need baking in the oven. An adult must be responsible for placing the food in the oven, checking on it during cooking and taking it out when necessary. Please ensure your learner has short sleeves, or close fitting long sleeves that will not get caught on equipment, long hair tied back and is wearing an apron or clothes that can be washed easily. Please ensure you check all your ingredients for possible allergens. Recipes can be adapted for vegetarians.
