👋 Hey Astronauts in the making!! Are you ready to venture off into space? Each week we will explore space with weekly topics and hands-on activities. The class topics will differ weekly but will include planets, constellations, astronauts, galaxies, and more! Each class learners will also complete a craft and/or hands-on activity for each space exploration your little astronaut will encounter. Learners will have ample opportunity to communicate their love for all things space as well as...
Below is the list of materials needed for each weeks space exploration craft or hands-on activity. 🌌 (Feb. 30th - Mar. 3rd) - Galaxy Slime 🌌 --- 1 (6oz) black glitter glue, Elmer's Magical Liquid (must have), and more glitter or sequins (stars or circles...optional, but adds texture and fun to learners galaxy slime). 🌏 (Mar. 6th - 10th) - Planet Alignment Hat 🧢 --- the solar system template provided by teacher, scissors, glue, and crayons/markers (learners choice). 🌎 () - Rocket Ship Name 🌎 --- colored construction paper (learners choice), template printout provided by teacher, glue, scissors, and pen/pencil/marker. 🫧 () - Bubble Print Planets 🫧 --- large bowl of warm water, 2 cups dish soap, 3/4 cup of corn syrup, food coloring, smaller bowls for different colors, bubble wand or straw, printout provided by teacher, one black construction paper, scissors, and glue. 🔭 () - Make a Telescope 🔭 --- toilet or paper towel roll, paint of learners choice, paint brush, and any type of stickers (stars are perfect for but not necessary). 🥛 () - Dancing Milk 🪐 --- milk, pie dish or deep plate, food coloring, q-tips, and small amount of laundry detergent. 🪨 () - Dough Craters 🪨 -- play doh and rocks found outside. 🎨 () - Foil Painting 🖼 --- printout provided by teacher, foil, and different colored paint. 🪐 () - Fizzing Planets 🪐 --- several medium bowls, baking soda, food coloring, water, vinegar, spoon, tray, and pipette or children's medicine syringe. 💫 () - Paper Plate Star Twirler 💫 --- star Printables provided by teacher, 1 paper plate, twine or string, scissors, blue/purple/black paint (crayons or markers), glitter, paintbrushes, glue, and yellow paint or paper. 🌌 () - Pipe Cleaner Constellations 🌟 --- pipe cleaners (learners choice) and beads OR mini marshmallows and pretzel sticks. 🌜() - Oreo Activity 🍪 --- printout provided by teacher and regular Oreo cookies. 🌞 () - Paper Plate Sun Craft 🌞 --- paper plate, orange or yellow yarn, orange or yellow beads (generally the color opposite used for string), orange and yellow pre-cut triangles for sun, yellow paint, single hole punch, and paintbrushes. 👩🚀 () - Astronaut Ice Cream 👨🚀 --- 3 large egg whites at room temperature, 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 tablespoon vanilla or peppermint extract, gel food coloring (optional), mini chocolate chips, parchment paper, ziplock bag or pastry bag, scissors, mixer, and oven. ***Parents advice you will need to assist your learner but off screen.***
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Each will differ in activity. In class at times learners will need to use scissors, parents please advise and stay close to your leaner (off screen) in case they need assistance. There is the addition of one week where learners will need an adults assistance when making our Astronaut Ice Cream...an adult will need to operate the oven for their learner please!
