US Grade 4 - 5
This is a 3 day camp. On day 1, students will learn how a person becomes an astronaut through a PowerPoint lecture. They will also learn what astronauts do, and how they prepare for a mission. Students will be given a simple 1 page homework assignment on day 1 covering what was learned that day. On day 2, we will go over the homework assignment and share our answers, as well as any questions students have. We will then have another PowerPoint lecture on the dangers and mysteries of space. On day 3, students will be asked to share a fact that they researched on their own that is astronomy related. We will then play trivia based on what we learned in the first 2 days of lecture. Students are encouraged to wear anything astronomy related if they have it (for example a hat or shirt). Students also receive a certificate of completion at the end! **This class will only run with the MINIMUM OF 2 LEARNERS or more. Class will be canceled if minimum is not met**.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Western Governors University
Hi there!
My name is Marie and I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. In my earlier college days I was enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program, and I have direct experience working with children ages 2-22. Some of the subjects that I am passionate about learning and teaching are: astronomy, drawing, animals and earth science! My philosophy behind my teaching is that each student learns differently, and I would like to provide an open-minded environment to help each child maximize their abilities. I enjoy allowing my students to have as much verbal participation as possible!
Some fun facts about me: I have an 11 year old daughter. I have had many types of pets including birds, cats, mice, hamsters, fish, hermit crabs and a tarantula! My 2 most favorite things are astronomy and Halloween. I also work as a special education paraprofessional.! I am excited to meet you and hope to see you in some of my classes!
