Class Experience
Join me in my Little Art studio to draw the most popular princess, portrait style! Using simple shapes and lines, we will draw the beloved Ariel from Little Mermaid in her very own portrait, complete with a patterned frame! We will open our class with some brief social time to get to know one another and understand the drawing, talk about the character, and the supplies needed. Then, we will get right to work setting up a frame for our portrait! We will start with pencil and eraser and...
My goal is for artists to have fun learning how to draw and color a popular character from the Little Mermaid and continue to draw and experiment with other ideas on their own.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and have enjoyed working with vibrant colors through markers, paints, chalk pastels and more. My personal style, as reflected in my own artwork over the years, is more abstract, graphic, and even impressionistic. I worked with young learners for several years when I was in charge of a volunteer- lead art program that focused on art elements and the art masters. We did many different thematic projects and used different media each month. I have been teaching art on Outschool for the last two years and continue to search for and develop more projects incorporating fun compositions and techniques. I love discovering how one technique can have unexpected results and even be used in new ways. Sharing these colorful and simple ideas with young artists is exciting - I often learn from them as they express themselves!
There’s no specific homework, but artists may want to continue drawing and creating more characters on their own.
- Mixed media/Art paper – 8 x 10 or larger - Fine and Ultra Fine tip Black sharpie marker - Pencil and eraser - Colored, washable markers, colored pencils and/or crayons - Brush and cup of water (optional)
Throughout the class, I will have artists share their work with me to see their progress and ask questions as they arise.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
