Description
Class Experience
Welcome ! After brief introduction we will get right to work! In this one-time class, artists will create unique monoprints simply using a plastic zip-top bag, acrylic or tempera paint, and mixed media or art paper. Any paper that can hold up to paint is great! Artists will learn how they can create unique designs by painting and printing from their plastic "printing plate." This is a process art experience, where the “process” of creating the art is as important as the final result. We...
My goal is for artists to have fun throughout the process of creating colorful artwork using simple supplies you may already have and continue to experiment on their own.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and have enjoyed working with vibrant colors through markers, paints, and chalk pastels. My personal style is more abstract, graphic, and even impressionistic and this is reflected in my own artwork style over the years. I worked with young learners for several years as part of a volunteer- lead art program I was in charge of. We did many different types of projects and used different media and techniques each month. I love discovering how one technique can have unexpected results and even be used in new ways. Sharing these colorful ideas with little artists makes the process even more exciting- I often learn from them as well!

You will need: - Mixed media/art paper - a size that works with your bag. (see below) - Acrylic or tempera paints- whatever colors you have! - Large zip-top plastic bag - Wooden/metal/plastic spoon - Mini roller (optional to roll paint) - Couple brushes- one big one if you have it - Cup of water - Paper towels or old towel - Q-tips - Baby wipes (helpful to wipe fingers) - ALSO please bring a baking dish or pan to use as your “printing plate”- this can be metal, glass, or even a piece of plexiglass and any shape you want: square, rectangle, round!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Throughout the class, I will have artists share their work with me to see their progress and ask questions as they arise.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents- please be available to help your artist as needed or even do the project with them depending on age and ability.
