Beginner Level
Artists will meet each week to draw and paint a fun and colorful piece! We will use pencil/eraser, markers, crayons, oil pastels, watercolors, acrylic paints and layers of paper to create vibrant, individual masterpieces. Each week we will focus on different art elements and design principles as we work, including line, shape, color, space, texture, tone, and balance. Artists are encouraged to try their own ideas and use what I share as inspiration. I want them to explore and experiment! After quick hellos and introductions, we will get right to work and have fun! I will guide students throughout the class, plus they will be able to see the artwork on my overhead art cam as a reference. Please be sure to have supplies ready before class to make our time efficient! Week of Feb 26th: Name Squiggle Design Mar 4th: City Scape Mar 11th: Rainbow Design Mar 18th: Rabbits Mar 25th: Sunflowers Throughout the class, I will have artists hold up their work to show their progress to both myself and their peers and celebrate how far they have come. It is NOT important that work is complete when they share, as everyone works at a different pace. Being able to recognize any and all progress is very important, although the number one goal is, of course, to have fun! I am excited to share these ideas with new artists!
Learning Goals
My goal is for artists to create beautiful and brilliant compositions using different media and fun techniques; to inspire them to try more on their own; and, for them to return to the studio for something new the following week!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from UCLA
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and have enjoyed working with vibrant colors through markers, paints, pencils and chalk pastels. My personal style is more abstract, graphic, and even impressionistic and this is reflected in my own painting style over the years. I enjoy the spontaneity of these creative painting projects and young, new artists have the best ideas to share- we learn from each other!
