Class Experience

This class is a place to create artwork from games and conversation, perhaps discover new creative talent and, have fun with new friends!

We will socialize through games that are centered around art prompts, challenges and fun. We might randomly draw squiggles and turn them into our own drawings; we may spin the wheel and be prompted to draw something out of the ordinary; and, we may experiment with drawing in different ways and with different tools (Can you draw with your non-dominant hand?). These art prompts may be silly, spontaneous, and crazy, but also thoughtful. There are other ideas to come like these! I will share my screen to display visual examples, images, and game boards. I always keep my art studio calm and easy-going so everyone feels welcome and can try new things. Please join us!

I ask that each artist collect a few supplies and bring the “art kit” to class with them each week. Most of the time, you can create the art the way you want to and with the supplies you prefer, but it is great to have a small selection of art media available in a box/bin/bag such as :
Art journal with mixed media paper like this one:

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from UCLA
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA in Art and spent several years working with professional artists to create art for publications such as Bon Appetit magazine and the Williams-Sonoma catalog. My personal style, as reflected in my own artwork over the years, is more abstract, graphic, and even impressionistic. I have enjoyed working with vibrant colors through markers, paints, chalk pastels and more. I worked with young learners for several years when I was in charge of a volunteer- lead art program in public schools that focused on art elements and art masters. We did many different thematic projects and used different media each month. I have also taught a wide variety of art classes here on Outschool from my own catalog of classes, for camps, and schools and, as part of a team with other online educators, collaborating on themes and activities. I continue to search for and develop more projects incorporating fun compositions and techniques. I love discovering how one technique can have unexpected results and even be used in new ways. Sharing these colorful and simple ideas with young artists is exciting - I often learn from them as well as they express themselves!
