In this 6-week course students will read, explore, write about, and discuss in Spanish The Little Prince novel.
Class experience
Students will spend the class engaged in the following activities in Spanish: Day 1 - The Author Sharing their reading. Discussing the content read Completing exercises to demonstrate comprehension. Day 2. Chapters 1 - 9 Discussing the content read Expanding vocabulary Completing exercises to demonstrate comprehension. Day 3. Students will be able to: Increase vocabulary in Spanish Demonstrate understanding of novel. Analyze and critique the novel.
I am offering this class to provide an option for bilingual students in middle school who wish to enhance their reading comprehension skills in Spanish. I believe that the journey to become biliterate goes beyond being able to speak a second language, but rather being able to comprehend, speak, read, and write in both languages equally. The dynamics in my classes are developed in ways for students to feel comfortable and learn to take chances in using the language and develop their continuous love of learning it.
Homework Offered
Each week students will: Read assigned chapters Make lists of unknown words and find their meanings Presentations (One initial, and one final)1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
