Literature Analysis and Creative Writing: "The Wizard of Oz"
One-time, 60 minute class, talking about the timeless classic, "The Wizard of Oz." We will analyze the infamous Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion and do a fun creative writing project about what you would go to Oz to ask the wizard for!

This class will do a character analysis of three essential characters from "The Wizard of Oz." Those characters are the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. We will focus on how the characters develop throughout the story from the beginning to the end. We will look at the internal and external conflicts the characters faced and seek to answer the question of how they found what they were looking for by the end. There will be an in class creative writing project where students can enjoy a bit of self-reflection, pondering and writing about what they would travel to the Land of Oz to ask the wizard for. Students will be invited to share their exciting and creative insights with the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to conduct a character analysis, exploring the dynamics of development from the beginning of the story through to the end.
Students will enjoy a creative writing activity that practices the art of expression through the writing process.

Pre-Requisites
Students should have knowledge of the story, "The Wizard of Oz." Watching the film will do.
