Literary Analysis for Tweens: Weekly Reading and Writing (10-13)
Each week, students will be assigned a poem, nonfiction article, or a short story to read before class. We will then spend class discussing the text and performing literary analysis paragraph writing (embedding quotes, citing evidence, etc)

Class Experience
Students will be able to read, write, and think more critically.
I am a certified English/Reading teacher with a master's degree and have both online and classroom experience.
Students should have the assigned text read before coming to class
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
These texts are approved for the middle-grade level and are designed to challenge students. Please refer to common sense media to make sure that they are appropriate for your learner. Lamb to the Slaughter does involve a murder (not described). None of the texts involve vulgarity or profanity. Some of the texts do involve sad situations Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
