Description
Class Experience
This is an on-going tutoring course geared toward elementary-aged students. The tutor will individualize the learning experience for each child. This session can be used for reading or writing tutoring and support or as homework help. The tutor is trained in instructing at-risk readers through the Reading Recovery model and can support readers in all literacy aspects. Children will gain support in literacy instruction.
Vicky has been a certified teacher for 12 years in the public school system. She holds a bachelor of science in elementary education and a master of science in early childhood education. She has completed many additional courses outside of these degrees, including the coursework to become a certified reading recovery teacher for at risk students.
Homework can be assigned as requested.
The teacher will provide reading materials and any other materials necessary for the literacy courses. Additional books may be purchased based on parent consent and student interest.
Running records and spelling inventories are used to assess student knowledge.
1 hour per class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Age appropriate books will be provided online by the teacher based on the child's reading level. Additional reading materials may need to be purchased with parent consent.
