Teacher expertise and credentials
Massachusetts Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi, my name is Debbie (short for Deborah)! I'm offering both academic and creative writing classes. I have a Bachelor's in Writing from Eastern Oregon University, a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Lesley University and certification as a teacher in Massachusetts for both Elementary Grades and English as a Second Language (6-12).
Writing has been a long-time passion of mine. I've been writing stories and poems since I could pick up a pen. I'd love to pass my love of writing on to your kids.
I've also taught writing from ages as young as PreK (4-5 year olds) to college. I'm currently Adjunct faculty at a local college, for English Language Learners. I love developing young writers, helping students organize their writing, teaching English language learners and preparing students for college.
Writing is so important, as it's a way to communicate our thoughts, ideas and our inner worlds.
I also do writing myself. I am an active children's book writer. I'm part of an international organization for children's authors and am actively working towards having a debut children's book in the near future.
