Throughout the class, learners will be encouraged to share their work to assess their progress and understanding. We will engage in respectful and relaxed conversation and they are always encouraged to ask questions as needed.Class Experience
Welcome to our line drawing class! After introductions, we will define what a line is in art terms and draw different types of lines to create a chart. Using this and my high-contrast line drawing examples, artists will start their own artwork creating line designs and experiment with their own patterns. The possibilities are endless and the designs are always unique! I encourage artists to share ideas with me throughout the class. This type of art is very calming and grounding, so there is an added benefit to learning about these patterns! Also, please remember that all artists learn at their own pace, so some may not complete their work during class. I will assess where everyone is several times to gauge the pace and adjust as time allows. I will provide many opportunities to view the letters and ask questions as they arise. Thank you! Supplies you will need: 3-4 pages of blank 8x10 paper 1/2 sheet of blank paper Black Fine Point Sharpie Black Ultra Fine point Sharpie Ruler or straight edge Scrap paper to lay underneath You may also need: pencil bar eraser
Learning Goals
My goal is for learners to understand different types of lines and how to incorporate them into an art composition as simple or complex as they would like. They will create an expressive and unique piece of black and white art using minimal supplies they may already have at home.
