Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn about the key role a growth mindset plays in learning mathematics and the importance of making mistakes and seeing these are opportunities for learning rather than failures. Students will have the opportunity to apply some of the strategies they are exposed to during the class, to support them to approach maths with more confidence.

Learning Intention:
We are learning to improve our maths mindset by embracing our mistakes

Success Criteria:
We will be successful if we can:
- Identify the importance of mindset and mistakes in mathematics
- Apply a growth mindset to mathematical problems
- Use your mistakes to support you through the problem solving process
We are fully qualified and experienced teachers and Primary School Learning Specialists.
Pen and paper - students many opt to use this instead of our Google Jamboard during the problem solving tasks.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
A short report will be written and emailed to each parent that outlines the learners' participation and progress.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be provided with a link to a Google Jamboard during our class where they will work on problem solving tasks. We will email this link to all parents after the class so that students can share the task with their friends and family. There is no account required for Google Jamboard. If students are already logged into a school account, it may mean that they cannot access our Jamboard due to their school privacy settings, so students will need to log out of any school accounts.

Our Google Slides and a YouTube Video (G-rated) will be shared by the teacher using screen share only.
