1 hour per week. I will provide optional at home work to enhance what we learned in class.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
Come join me for a fun Valentine’s Day themed language arts experience. We will begin with pre-reading discussion questions about the book. Students will not need to have their own copy of the book. I will do a read a loud in class. Then, we will have more discussion after the reading the book by responding to questions, encouraging critical thinking skills, and supporting reading comprehension. Each student will be encouraged to share their own ideas and respond to peers in a respectful way, but I will not force any student to answer if they are not comfortable. In response to the sweet book we explored, we will then learn about didactic Cinquain poetry. Using an engaging slide show by sharing my screen, and worksheets designed specifically for this class, students will learn the structure of this particular type of poetry, and have plenty of hands-on opportunity to practice this new writing style with lots of support. We will then discuss how cinquains can be effectively used to make home made Valentine cards and messages of their own. Students will have so much fun exploring this new, simple form of poetry, they will be inspired to continue writing at home. I will provide an enrichment activity for at home work to enhance what we learned in class. This is a fun, sweetly-themed, satisfying language arts experience for your young writer. I would LOVE to see you there!
