• Each week, learners will takeaway knowledge of key concepts pertaining to acting, theatre, drama, comedy, performance, storytelling, etc. • Each week, learners will be empowered to embrace acting and theatre experiences - in all their various forms. • An ideal outlet to exercise their body / voice / imagination, and regulate emotions. • An ideal outlet to practice social skills, critical thinking, and socializing. • An ideal outlet to improve communication skills, focus, memory building, and vocabulary. • Appreciate teamwork, learn one of many creative life skills, and even encourage mindfulness.
This class is led by an internationally renowned and critically acclaimed / award-winning SAG/AFTRA/AEA Performing Artist with over 2 decades of professional acting experience in television, film, live theatre, commercials, and radio. I have been teaching numerous styles and elements of acting / voice / dance, life skills, yoga (various disciplines), and meditation / mindfulness techniques to children and adults since the age of 16. Assessments Offered
No acting experience is necessary for this class and there are no formal assessments other than guidance. With that said, learners are encouraged to ask questions or request clarification as needed. Additionally, should a learner volunteer to work / perform a monologue and/or scene, Coach Jen does provide constructive coaching / suggested adjustments for volunteer actors to consider for their next drama club work session. Coach Jen also delivers guidance to the audience of learners - re: how to provide positive feedback for their fellow actors.Grades Offered
Learners should have an open and safe work space (please clear the area of anything on the floor including rugs), wear sneakers with socks, comfortable clothing that allows for unrestricted movement, and have a water bottle handy. As with any class game or physical activity, it is suggested that learners go at their own pace. Paper and pencils, or preferred writing element is optional if a learner would like to take any notes. Note-taking is completely optional for this class however, and not required. Should a learner have the desire to record thoughts and impressions during drama club, a designated 'drama club journal' can serve as an ideal tool.

As with any class game or physical activity, it is suggested that learners go at their own pace. I do my very best to ensure all material covered in this class is age appropriate. With that said, some scenes in class are improvised and I am mindful to not censor the students' content unless it is offensive or excessively violent. Mild comedic violence does tend to occur during improv from time to time, and some potentially "scary" themes (e.g. - ghosts, zombies, etc.) do present themselves on occasion.
Please note that this club is loosely based upon the method of acting which Coach Jen was trained in and which she has found most helpful for her various professional endeavors and her coaching style, for literally hundreds of clients over the years. It calls upon Coach Jen's unique interpretation of Uta Hagen's systematic approach to teaching acting based upon Konstantin Stanislavski's principles - otherwise known as Stanislavski's System.
